CEREMONY  is an independent poetry project turned collective experiment in collaboration.

A place to connect

ABOUT

CEREMONY IS

a living archive of community conversations, collective reflection and experimental publishing. What began as a pair of digital zines has become an evolving space for shared learning and storytelling. CEREMONY hosts events, workshops, and immersive experiences that honour personal narratives while creating collective memory.

Then

CEREMONY began as two digital zines in 2020 and has since turned into a multifaceted platform for collaboration, experimental publishing, and public learning. At its core, CEREMONY is an invitation to be in relation with each other, with art, and with the possibilities that emerge when we slow down, reflect, and create together.

Now

Through immersive projects, workshops, and digital experiments, CEREMONY explores how personal narrative and shared experience can generate collective wisdom. Whether through reading a community conversation, flipping through a zine, or engaging with a workbook or digital tool, the invitation is to participate in a practice of co-creation, presence and connection.

We are guided by a belief that everyone, regardless of professional title, has knowledge, creativity, and insight worth sharing. By bridging everyday creatives with established artists, we create experiences that are emotionally resonant as they are conceptually rich. We aim, as Parker Palmer writes, for “intimacy that does not annihilate difference.”

CEREMONY is more than a series of projects; it’s a growing commons and community-centred portals for artistic and relational inquiry.

Later

We see art and dialogue as ways to imagine alternative futures, futures that are accountable to the communities who dream them.

CEREMONY will continue to grow as a living system of collective wisdom-making and mutual connection. We honour the past while holding space for the future, knowing each story we experience and share helps shape what might come next.

Our projects aim to act as examples of what is possible in the world of collaboration. If a conversation, project, or line of text resonates with you, reach out. This project remains alive because of the people who engage with it.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Community Conversations
A growing archive of interviews with artists, makers, and everyday creatives. These conversations celebrate the full person, where they’ve been, who they are, and what they may leave behind for future generations. Each conversation is transcribed and made publicly available, offering insight, connection, and prompts for creative reflection.

Community Workshops
In these facilitated sessions, participants reflect on themes from community conversations and share their own stories. Rooted in the belief that intelligence lives in relationship, these workshops generate collective meaning and offer tools for reflection, creativity, and shared wisdom. Workbooks accompany each session, co-designed by KT and invited collaborators.

Process Pages
Supported by the Canada Council’s Digital Greenhouse Grant, this project documents the development of a small language model trained on CEREMONY’s archive. Alongside technical milestones, we share behind-the-scenes insights, ethical tensions, and lessons from collaborators in accessibility, foresight, and AI. These pages serve as a transparent, ongoing look into what it means to build slowly and with intention in digital spaces.

Experimental Publishing
From digital zines and laser-cut flipbooks to reflection guides and community workbooks, CEREMONY explores experimental forms of publishing as a way to share and circulate collective wisdom. These projects are tools for learning, remembering, and imagining, each playing with how knowledge can take shape.

Each project aims to create non-linear, collaborative narratives that can be returned to again and again. They’re as much about how we disseminate knowledge as how we create it.

FOUNDED BY KT

Katie Sullivan is a dancer, writer and curator. Business school drop-out turned social service worker turned designer, she started making and sharing creative projects later in her life. She loves being deep in conversation with everyone and made the CEREMONY platform and community not only to bring people together but also to invite those who feel outside of the art community, like she did, to explore new connections, perspectives, and reflect on their own art practices and identity.

The projects in CEREMONY are portals: immersive experiences that ask you to step into their worlds and be 'in' ceremony with them. They integrate stories shared or imagined in art with the realities we find around ourselves.
